Race Street Revival: The Herzog Sessions on Vinyl
Race Street Revival: The Herzog Sessions – Sea Glass Splatter Vinyl
Race Street Revival: The Herzog Sessions is a split album from Cincinnati favorites The Tillers and Buffalo Wabs and The Price Hill Hustle, recorded inside the historic Herzog Studio on Race Street. In 1948 and 1949, that same room hosted Hank Williams Sr as he cut eight MGM sides there, including “Lovesick Blues,” his first number one hit and the only MGM sessions he ever recorded outside Nashville. Seventy-five years later, two modern bands stepped back into that space to revisit and reinterpret those songs, shining a light on Cincinnati’s often overlooked place in country music history and turning Herzog into a living, breathing studio once again.
Made in collaboration with Arnold’s Bar and Grill and Neltner Small Batch Records, this limited sea glass splatter vinyl pressing is designed to feel like a bridge between past and present: one side The Tillers, one side Buffalo Wabs and The Price Hill Hustle, all of it anchored in the room where Hank’s voice first echoed off the walls. It is equal parts tribute and continuation, a Cincinnati story told by Cincinnati musicians in a place that helped shape American music.
